Ceist:188 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the remainder of the suckler cow premium for 2002. [16595/03]
Written Answers. - Grant Payments.
The person named applied for premium on 24 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme. Payment amounting to €4,303.68 representing his 80% advance instalment issued on 16 October 2002. When processing for the 20% balancing payment, it was found that further clarification was required regarding details held on the CMMS system on one animal. This matter will be dealt with as soon as possible and, if found in order, payment will issue shortly.

Ceist:189 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the percentage of the direct payments for farmers which is spent on administrative purposes. [16596/03]
No element of the funding received for direct payments to farmers is spent on administrative purposes. However, it is estimated that the cost to the State of administering the direct payments schemes amounts to about 3% of the value of total payments. This estimate consists of direct costs such as salary, PRSI, overtime, travel etc. as well as pro-rata amounts for overheads – heat, telecommunication, equipment etc. and an appropriate element for support staff costs.

The person named applied for premium on eight animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme. Payment of his 80% advance instalment amounting to €1,434.56 issued on 4 November 2002. When processing for the 20% balancing payment it was found that further clarification was required regarding the information held on the CMMS system for one animal. This matter is being dealt with further and, if found in order, payment will issue shortly.
