Vol. 568 No. 5

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

217 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if the working group on pensions has made recommendations as to the way in which the method of calculation of integration of public and social welfare pensions will be made more favourable for low paid public service pensioners as recommended by the Commission on Public Service Pensions. [16726/03]

The working group established under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness to advise on the implementation of the report of the Commission on Public Service Pensions has not, as yet, made any recommendations of its own. Under the terms of Sustaining Progress, paragraph 17.8, there was agreement on the need for the group to have completed its report by 1 April 2003. In the event it has not proved possible to meet that target. There has however been some progress in recent weeks, and it intended that the group should agree a final report shortly.
