Ceist:

313 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the current number of staff, broken down by grade, employed in the press office in respect of his office and the office of each Minister of State within his Department; the current amount paid in respect of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Mr. Cullen):

My Department's press office provides a service to my Department generally, as well as to my office and the offices of both Ministers of State at the Department. The staffing details sought in the question are set out in the following table:

The current annual salary cost for the press office is €185.757. The overtime costs for 2003 are €3,846 to date. Travel and subsistence expenses at appropriate Civil Service rates are paid, subject to the usual Civil Service conditions.
