184 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in providing funds for the SSRI at Coláiste Mhuire, Johnstown, County Kilkenny; if the scheme which is having a major impact on a disadvantaged community will be continued; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is currently reviewing the position in relation to SSRI schools. Any decision to include SSRI strand schools in the project strand of the school completion programme will be based on a selection process, which will take into account the latest available analysis of pupil retention rates at second level.
The school to which the Deputy refers will be notified of the outcome on completion of the review, which is expected shortly.
