Vol. 570 No. 2

Written Answers. - Statutory Redundancy.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

151 Mr. Ring asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason the redundancy application of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was not dealt with; and when it will be dealt with. [18351/03]

My Department received formal notification of the redundancy of the person concerned on 25 July 2002. Form RP1, notice of redundancy, was submitted by the then chairperson of a community council giving as the date of termination 22 January 1999. It was stated in a note attached to the form that, the community council was unaware of the redundancy package for the FÁS supervisor concerned until 20 July 2002. My Department has received no further documentation concerning statutory redundancy in respect of the person referred to in the question.

In this case, the person concerned should make a claim for statutory redundancy payment to the community council. The council may then wish to approach the local FÁS office in Ballina for funding.

If the person concerned is not paid his entitlement, he can appeal to the Employment Appeals Tribunal for a determination of his case. The telephone number of the tribunal is 01 6313006, LoCall 1890 220 222.
