Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - Committee of Public Accounts.

Mary Upton

Ceist:

159 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance if his Department had received copies of the agenda and documents of a Public Accounts Committee meeting on 1 June 1995 in advance of the meeting; the sections of his Department which received them; the steps officials in those sections took to prepare for the meeting; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24591/03]

The agenda for the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of 1 June 1995 was as follows:

Private Session – 11 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.

Public Session–

1. Correspondence.

2. National Treasury Management Agency – Paragraphs 7-10 (pages 5-8 of the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General).

3. Office of the Attorney General – progress report.

4. Department of Agriculture and Food – Paragraphs 57, 58, 59, 63 and 64 (pages 72-76 and 79-82).

5. Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry – Votes 31 and 32 (pages 226-241).

6. Any other business.

My Department's records indicate that in accordance with normal practice, the agenda for the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of 1 June 1995 was received in the Government accounting section of my Department before the meeting.

The practice when an agenda for a Public Accounts Committee meeting is received in my Department is for the areas of the Department with an interest in particular agenda items to be sent a copy of the agenda. For the Public Accounts Committee meeting of 1 June 1995, I am advised that the finance division, organisation, management and training division and public expenditure division were notified of the meeting and its agenda. As normal, officials from those areas would have familiarised themselves with all relevant issues in preparation for attendance at the Public Accounts Committee meeting. The official record of the meeting shows that officers from all three divisions attended.
