Vol. 573 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

123 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review the application for school transport of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25973/03]

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

125 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science further to parliamentary Question No. 159 of 15 October 2003, if his attention has been drawn to the fact that his Department's grant towards the cost of transport is wholly inadequate; if his Department can arrange for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 to share transport arrangements with other pupils who reside close by, who attend the same school and are travelling at the same time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26024/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 123 and 125 together.

The position in this case is that the service to which the Deputies refer is full to capacity. In the circumstances, transport grant-aid as outlined previously has been offered. The family concerned has appealed my Department's decision and the independent school transport appeals board will consider the matter as soon as possible.
