Written Answers. - Road Traffic Offences.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

437 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a time lapse of three months is occurring between the recording of a speeding offence and the notification of a driver of fines and penalty points; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that this can result in a number of repeat transgressions frequently at the same location, without the attention of the offending driver ever being drawn to the fact that his or her penalty point count was accumulating; and if steps will be taken to ensure early notification of drivers in order that the intended deterrent defect of initial penalty points can operate. [26434/03]
