Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Seamus Healy

Ceist:

475 Mr. Healy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the provision of a new Garda station for Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26452/03]

The intention is to provide a new Garda station for Clonmel, and as a first necessary step, the Office of Public Works has been asked to source a suitable site in the town. When that has been secured, consideration can be given to advancing the proposal, having due regard to priorities in the Garda building programme and available financial and other resources.

In the meantime, I can inform the Deputy that the Office of Public Works has been asked to advance certain necessary works to the roof of the current station as part of their 2004 programme of works to Garda stations.
