Vol. 574 No. 2

Written Answers. - General Practitioner Co-operatives.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

298 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children when funding will be provided for the extension of the Caredoc system to County Waterford (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26784/03]

Since 1999, a total of €46.5 million has been allocated nationally for out-of-hours general practitioner led co-operatives services in all health board areas.

A total of €7.1 million has been allocated to the South-Eastern Health Board since 1999 for the continued development of out-of-hours services which now cover counties Carlow, Kilkenny and south Tipperary. In 2003, a sum of €3.4 million was allocated which, among other developments, allowed the service to be expanded to County Wexford in 2003. Further expansion of the service to County Waterford will be supported as resources permit.
