Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

221 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Transport if his attention has been drawn to the very positive reaction in the Tallaght region to the test run of Luas at The Square in Tallaght recently which he attended and to the huge interest being generated by the project; if he will give an update; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27799/03]

I am aware of the very positive public reaction to the recent Luas trial run in Tallaght. I am also fully aware that the services are eagerly awaited by the people of Tallaght and those persons living along the routes that it will serve.

I have been advised by the RPA that the current timetable for completion for the Tallaght to Connolly Station line is May 2004, with passenger services commencing at the end of August 2004.
