Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

David Stanton

Ceist:

322 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number and location of speech and language units; the number of children attending each; the criteria for attending; the number of speech therapists involved; his plans for expanding and developing further speech and language units; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30146/03]

The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. The chief executive officers of the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards have been requested to provide the information in respect of their board and forward it directly to him.

Additional funding of €3 million has been made available in 2004 for services for people with physical or sensory disabilities, including speech and language therapy, to meet service pressures as identified by the ERHA and the health boards in consultation with other relevant agencies.
