Vol. 577 No. 4

Written Answers. - Railway Stations.

Fergus O'Dowd

Ceist:

254 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Transport the position regarding the proposed new railway station for the north side of Drogheda; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31695/03]

Irish Rail has informed me that it has had some discussions with Louth County Council regarding the provision of a second railway station in Drogheda to the north of the town. No decision has been taken on the matter. Irish Rail has some operational concerns about the close proximity of the two stations. If a station were to be considered, it would have to be supported by high density housing developments.
