Business of Joint Committee

I welcome everyone to our public meeting. We have received apologies from Deputy Emer Higgins.

Before we start, I wish to express the condolences of the committee to John Bruton's immediate and extended family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. The secretariat sent a letter this morning on behalf of the committee to the family.

The question is that we approve the minutes of the private and public meetings on 24 and 25 January 2024. They were already approved in a virtual private meeting but we must do this for procedural reasons. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I will read some formal notices. I remind members of the constitutional requirement that members must be physically present within the confines of the place which Parliament has chosen to sit, namely, Leinster House, in order to participate in public meetings. I will not permit a member to participate where they are not adhering to this constitutional requirement. Therefore, any member who attempts to participate from outside the precincts will be asked to leave the meeting.
