Members of Government and Parliamentary Secretaries.

I have received the following letters from the Secretary to the Government:—

Roinn an Taoisigh,

To: Cathaoirleach an tSeanaid.

I have to inform you as follows:—

(1) Dáil Éireann, having duly nominated Éamon de Valéra to be the Taoiseach, the President appointed him on the 9th instant to be the Taoiseach accordingly.

(2) The Taoiseach having, with the approval of Dáil Éireann, duly nominated the undermentioned Deputies to be members of the Government, the President appointed them on the 9th instant to be members of and with the Taoiseach to constitute the Government.

(3) The Taoiseach, on the 9th instant, pursuant to Article 28.6.1º of the Constitution, nominated Seán T. Ó Ceallaigh a member of the Government to be the Tánaiste.

(4) The Taoiseach, on the 9th instant, pursuant to Section 3 of the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924, as adapted, determined and declared the Departments of State to be assigned to and administered by the respective members of the Government as set out opposite the names of the respective Departments hereunder:—

Éamon de Valéra, Taoiseach

In charge of the Department of Ex ternal Affairs.

Seán T. Ó Ceallaigh (Tánaiste)

In charge of the Department of Finance.

Seán F. Lemass

In charge of the Departments of Sup plies and Industry and Commerce.

Seán Mac an tSaoi

In charge of the Department of Local Government and Public Health.

Séamas Ó Riain

In charge of the Department of Agri culture.

Tómas Ó Deirg

In charge of the Department of Educa tion.

Gearóid Ó Beoláin

In charge of the Department of Justice.

Oscar Mac Tréinfhir

In charge of the Department of Defence.

Pádraig Ó Caoilte

In charge of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.

Seán Ó Maoláin

In charge of the Department of Lands.

(5) An Order was made at a meeting of the Government held on the 9th instant, appointing Mr. Frank Aiken to be Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures, in which capacity he will deal with matters relating to Air Raid Precautions.

I have to inform you that the Government on the 9th instant appointed the under-mentioned persons to be Parliamentary Secretaries pursuant to Section 7 of the Minister and Secretaries Act, 1924, with effect in each case from the 9th June, 1944:—

Éamon Kissane, T.D.

To be Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach and to the Minister for Defence.

Patrick Smith, T.D.

To be Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance (in charge of Office of Public Works).

Seán O'Grady, T.D.

To be Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Com merce.

Dr. Francis C. Ward, T.D.

To be Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health.

Erskine H. Childers, T.D.

To be Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health.
