Vol. 127 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Norris that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to review the case of a prisoner in Arbour Hill (name supplied) with a view to exercising his ministerial prerogative of commuting the sentence in the light of its comparative severity taking into account the circumstances of the case.

I also received notice from Senator Raftery of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to make funds available for the repair of the pier and breakwater in Ballycotton harbour, which are now in a dangerous condition and deteriorating with every storm.

I also received notice from Senator Doyle of the following matter:

The urgent need for a paediatric unit at Wexford General Hospital.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that the extension to the girls' primary school at Adare, County Limerick, is constructed in 1991 and thereby alleviate the present over-crowded conditions.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Norris, Raftery, Doyle and Neville as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Norris' matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Raftery, Doyle and Neville may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
