Vol. 163 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Kathleen O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide additional funding for psychiatric services in North Tipperary.

I have also received notice from Senator Frank Chambers of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to outline the Government's commitment to investment in education under the National Development Plan 2000-2006, taking into account the recent figures published in the OECD report, showing a reduced investment in education in Ireland in comparison with other EU countries.

I regard the matter raised by Senator O'Meara as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret I have to rule Senator Chambers's matter out of order, as it is more appropriate for discussion as a substantive motion.
