The purpose of section 25 is to ensure that any person advertising credit refers to details of credit offered by his competitiors. This is very important. A point made by the Director of Consumer Credit and the Consumers Association is that advertisements should show both the terms of the credit being offered and the terms with which they are being compared.
There was a well known advertisement about air fares a couple of years ago. Under this Bill if one compares one's product with that of a competitor its terms must be quoted as well as one's own, rather than casting oblique opprobrium.
