Amharc ar fhreagraThe applicant has been placed on a cancellation list for a driving test at the Carlow driving test centre and a test and a test appointment will be arranged as soon as possible.
216 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Transport the position regarding the intention to privatise driving testing; if legislation has been prepared to progress this proposal; and if driving testers can be taken from the driving instructors register. [18273/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Government has approved the text of the driver testing and standards authority Bill which will enable the establishment of a public sector body to deliver, inter alia, the driver testing service. Arrangements are being made to publish the Bill shortly. Driver testers are recruited by open competition through the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commission.
