Wednesday, 22 February 2006

Ceisteanna (180)

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

214 Mr. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that under the initiative to move patients in hospital to step down facilities suitable to their needs, that a promise that wheelchairs would be provided where needed, has not been honoured; and if she will seek a full report on the operation of this initiative for the use of contracted facilities for hospital patients in order that Dáil Éireann can be informed of the effectiveness of the initiative. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
