246 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the reason for the delay in transferring the accounts branch of his Department in Castlebar to the Road Safety Authority in Ballina; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22358/06]
Amharc ar fhreagraThere is no proposal to transfer my Department's Accounts Branch in Castlebar to the Road Safety Authority. I presume that the Deputy may be referring to the transfer of a number of corporate support posts from my Department to the Department of Transport in connection with the earlier transfer to that Department of the former Maritime Transport and Maritime Safety functions of my Department. In this regard, I am advised that four members of the Accounts Branch staff in Castlebar have volunteered to transfer to the Department of Transport with a view to their subsequent re-designation as employees of the Road Safety Authority. My Department's officials are involved in discussions with their Department of Transport counterparts to finalise an appropriate effective date for these transfers.
