407 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the date a person (details supplied) in County Mayo made a claim for unemployment; the date their payment commenced; if there is money due to them for the period from when the claim was lodged to when their payment actually started. Amharc ar fhreagraThe person concerned applied for unemployment assistance on 4 July 2006. His claim is currently being examined. Upon completion of enquiries a decision will be made and he will be notified of the outcome. He is currently in receipt of supplementary welfare allowance at the weekly rate of €165.80.
Under Social Welfare legislation decisions in relation to claims must be made by Deciding Officers and Appeals Officers. These officers are statutorily appointed and I have no role in regard to making such decisions.
