484 Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for Transport and the Marine the number of people who were issued with penalty points in the past twelve months in relation to the illegal use of fog lights; the number who were subsequently prosecuted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe answer is ‘Nil' because the offence that the Deputy refers to is not scheduled as a penalty point offence under the Road Traffic Act 2002. Enforcement in respect of illegal use of fog lights is a matter for the Garda Síochána and my Department has no statistics in relation to the number of persons prosecuted in respect of that offence.
