Amharc ar fhreagraIn considering an application under the Planning and Development (Strategic Infrastructure) Act, An Bord Pleanála is required to consider whether any of the area of the development is within a European site or whether the proposed development would have an effect on a European site. In either of these situations, the Board must have regard to the provisions of the EU Birds and Habitats Directives in relation to the protection of European Sites such as Special Protection Areas and Special Areas of Conservation. The South Dublin Bay and River Tolka Estuary Special Protection Area, in which this development is proposed is such a European Site.
