Amharc ar fhreagraThe Family Income Supplement is designed to provide support for people with families who are on low earnings. This preserves the incentive for them to remain in employment in circumstances where they might only be marginally better off than if they were claiming other social welfare payments. Family Income Supplement is paid on a weekly basis over a period of 52 weeks, taking into account a family's net earnings and the number of children under age 18 or aged 18 and 22 years who are in full time education. A person on a three day week in receipt of job seekers benefit for the other three days would not be entitled to Family Income Supplement.
