Ceisteanna (81)

Michael Ring

Ceist:

78 Deputy Michael Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the national spinal injury service in the Mater Hospital, Dublin, is not being specifically funded to provide a national service for all spinal conditions; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that there is a problem in relation to the treatment for people nationally. Decisions on the allocation of resources and the prioritisation of service developments at regional level are a matter for the HSE. I am aware that this issue was the subject of discussions between the Health Service Executive and the Mater Hospital. I wish to advise the Deputy that due to industrial action affecting the Health Service Executive it is not possible for the Executive to supply the information requested. If this matter remains of continuing concern to you, however, I would invite you to raise it with me again in due course.
