120 Deputy James Reilly asked the Minister for Health and Children, further to Parliamentary Question No. 284 of 15 June 2010, if she will provide the names and addresses of all nursing homes that have closed since this system of registration and inspection commenced; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraUnder the Health Act, 2007 statutory responsibility is given to the Chief Inspector of Social Services, part of the Health Information and Quality Authority for inspecting and registering categories of designated centres, including nursing homes for older people. Since 1 July 2009, when regulation of designated centres for older people commenced, the Authority has cancelled the registration of one designated centre. Glenbervie Nursing Home had its registration cancelled by the District Court on the application of the Chief Inspector.
Under Section 66 of the Act the registered provider must notify the Chief Inspector before closing a designated centre. The Authority has informed me of five centres which have closed. They are: Villa Maria Del Mar Nursing Home, Truskey West, Barna, Co Galway; Olde School Nursing Home, Olde School, Church Cross, Skibereen, Co. Cork; Carraig Tuir, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford; St Louis, Monaghan, Louisville, Monaghan Town, Co. Monaghan; Riverview Nursing Home, Dublin Road, Trim, Co. Meath.
