100 Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the new measures he will introduce governing the application procedures for embassy visas for domestic workers; and the timeframe for when these new regulations will be established. [5489/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraResponsibility for visas rests with the Minister for Justice and Law Reform. However, my Department is working with colleagues in the Department of Justice and Law Reform and other relevant Government Departments with a view to implementing additional protections, including revised procedures related to entry requirements for private domestic workers in diplomatic households consistent with its obligations under the Vienna Convention. Revised procedures will be introduced as soon as this work has been completed and agreement has been reached with the relevant Government Departments on the measures to be implemented.
