43. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the basis upon which third parties can change mooring fees for marinas under the remit of Waterways Ireland. [52868/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraI am informed by Waterways Ireland that it grants leases to third parties, who wish to develop marinas requiring access to Waterways Ireland’s property. The application process for obtaining such a lease is available on the Waterways Ireland website at http://www.waterwaysireland.org/index.cfm/section/article/page/Marina.
I am advised that where applications are successful, the lease permits the marina owner to develop and sell private moorings, with the annual lease fee payable to Waterways Ireland based on a percentage of the value of the annual mooring income.
