563. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Health if he will implement the recommendation of the Ombudsman in ensuring that the motorised transport grant scheme is operated in accordance with the requirements of the Equal Status Act [53720/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Department accepts that significant issues have been raised by the Ombudsman in relation to the Motorised Transport Grant and the Equal Status Acts. The Department accepts that the Motorised Transport Grant cannot continue in its current form and must be compliant with the Equal Status Acts. The Department are seeking further legal advice on the options available to the Minister and is endeavouring to make sure that those who currently receive the grant, and rely on it, are protected as far as possible.
