172. Deputy Jerry Buttimer asked the Taoiseach the date of the next census; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [57449/12]

Censuses of Population have traditionally been taken in Ireland every five years, meaning the next census is due in April 2016. The census is traditionally held on a Sunday in April, and the exact data will be chosen closer to the time.
