The EU and the US agree that a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership [TTIP] Agreement would be good for growth and jobs on both sides of the Atlantic, and this gave rise to the opening of negotiations, which began in July, 2013. This week sees the 7th formal round of negotiations taking place.

The TTIP will be an Agreement within the meaning of Article 29.5.2 of the Constitution. Ratification by Ireland will therefore be subject to prior approval of Dáil Éireann.
