703. Deputy Michelle Mulherin asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the Government-supported initiatives at local and national level that have been pursued to develop the sport of basketball in the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12818/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Irish Sports Council, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the promotion, development and co-ordination of sport, including the allocation of funding for the National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs), including Basketball Ireland.
As this question is a matter for the Irish Sports Council, I have referred it to the Council for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.
