Under a Ministerial Direction, which applies until 31 January 2016, key local authorities are required to prioritise homeless and other vulnerable households in the allocation of tenancies under their control. The four Dublin local authorities have been directed to allocate 50% of all available dwellings to such households, while the local authorities in counties Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford have been directed to allocate 30%. My Department is currently collecting up-to-date details from the relevant housing authorities in relation to such allocations and I expect these details to be finalised shortly.
Data on individuals in emergency accommodation is provided through the Pathway Accommodation and Support System (PASS). Lead housing authorities provide monthly reports on homelessness which identify the number of people utilising State-funded emergency accommodation on a regional and county basis.
