Ceisteanna (644)

Thomas P. Broughan

Ceist:

644. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will request a report from the Dublin Airport Authority on unacceptable early morning and late night aircraft noise levels over the north fringe parishes of the Dublin Bay North constituency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) is the competent authority in Ireland with the responsibility, inter alia, of ensuring that airport authorities adopt a balanced approach in dealing with noise related matters at airports, it would not be appropriate for me to intervene in the manner suggested by the Deputy. The IAA exercises its responsibilities by reference to EU legislative provisions and I have asked the IAA to liaise directly with the Deputy.  If the Deputy does not receive a reply within ten working days, please advise my private office.
