Deputy Pat Deering asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will clarify the situation with regard to a school (details supplied) that was approved for funding for a new autism spectrum disorder unit and classroom but so far has not been provided its allocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI can confirm for the Deputy that my Department approved funding for additional classroom accommodation and an Autism Spectrum Disorder unit to the school in question.
The school has since reverted to my Department with a request for additional funding for the project. The request will be considered by my Department and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as this process is finalised.
