Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Education and Skills the date for the next meeting with the Northern Ireland Minister for Education in sectorial format, as provided for in the North-South Ministerial Council; the issues to be discussed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAn NSMC Education meeting is being arranged to take place in late September 2016 in Armagh. While an agenda for the meeting is not yet to hand it is expected to cover EU-related matters; educational underachievement; teacher qualifications; and school youth and teacher exchanges.
The NSMC Secretariat will shortly chair a joint working group meeting comprising officials of the Education Departments North and South at which the agenda and arrangements for the September meeting will be finalised.
