144. Deputy Kevin O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will, as a matter of urgency, give approval to commence works at a school (details supplied) in County Cork, where the tender for the contract works has already been awarded and the works must be completed prior to the 2016 school term commencing. I can confirm that the school referred to by the Deputy submitted an application to my Department, earlier this month, for works to facilitate the amalgamation approved recently to proceed from 1st September 2016.

The application is currently under consideration and my Department will be in direct contact with the school when a decision is made.
