1469. Deputy Louise O'Reilly asked the Minister for Social Protection the cost of introducing an annual scale and polish under the dental treatment benefit scheme, DTBS, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [35185/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe cost of providing services under the treatment benefit scheme is dependent on the demand for such services from qualified customers. As a result, the annual cost of re-introducing the scale and polish treatment can only be estimated at this time. If the demand for this treatment is in line with the 2009 out turn (the last time the scale and polish treatment was provided under the scheme), then the estimated cost of re-introducing this treatment would be circa €18M in a full year.
