In 2015, my Department obtained sanction from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, DPER, to increase the number of senior management posts at Education Officer level, now called Director, within the ETB sector, with some of the larger ETBs having a greater number of such posts.
Following subsequent engagement with ETBI and with the staff side, approval was obtained in May 2016 from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform for a minimum of three Director posts in each ETB. A Public Appointments Service open competition was used to create panels to fill Director posts. This competition was initially advertised in April 2016. A subsequent competition to fill remaining vacancies was advertised in December 2016.
