273. Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice asked the Minister for Justice and Equality his plans to amend the law to allow persons to hold products or items in their own homes which could be used for the purposes of self defence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [48955/17]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will be aware, the current law in relation to self defence in the home is set out in the Criminal Law (Defence and the Dwelling) Act, 2011. There are currently no plans to amend legislation to provide for persons to hold products or items in their own homes which could be used for the purposes of self defence.
