Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Education and Skills the status of the proposal to build housing units at the site formally occupied by a school (details supplied); the extent of discussions with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government; the date of the most recent inter-departmental contact on this matter; when these negotiations are expected to conclude; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department is working closely with Meath County Council to progress the proposal to facilitate housing units on the site adjacent to the school site referred to by the Deputy. There has been ongoing positive and constructive engagement between senior officials in my Department and Meath County Council in that regard.
Arising from recent discussions on the matter, my Department received a proposal from the Department of Housing Planning and Local Government on January 22nd and this is currently under consideration.
