Deputy Brendan Howlin asked the Taoiseach the spend on social media advertising and campaigns on an itemised basis in respect of each campaign, the respective platforms, the number of hits or visits generated, the overall cost of each campaign and the cost per hit or visit in each of the years 2016, 2017 and to date in 2018. There was no spend on social media in 2016. For 2017 and 2018, the spend on social media (Facebook, YouTube and Twitter) and the cost of campaigns to date is detailed in the following table:
