Deputy Pat The Cope Gallagher asked the Minister for Education and Skills the status of an application by a school (details supplied) for an ASD unit and additional accommodation; if the remaining stages of the application will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI can confirm to the Deputy that an extension comprising a two classroom ASD unit was approved for the school in question in March 2016. In June 2017, the ETB sought to include elements of refurbishment to the existing building, the relocation of existing rooms and prefab removal which have also been approved.
A project delivery stage meeting was held with the school authority on 8 February last. In that regard, I understand that an updated stage submission has been received and is under consideration. My Department will revert to the ETB shortly in relation to next steps.
