Amharc ar fhreagraSection 40 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 (as amended) requires a person to carry their driving license while driving a vehicle. Accordingly, the National Car Testing Service (NCTS) requests a driving license from a person as the form of identification required when they submit their vehicle for the National Car Test (NCT). If for any legitimate reason this is not possible, an alternative is provided which allows the presentation of a Public Service Card, which provides a similar level of assurance regarding identity to a driving licence, including residence.
