151. Deputy Thomas Byrne asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform his plans to open the round tower in Kells, County Meath, to tourists; and if there have been reports or studies carried out by the OPW regarding the tower. [36992/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn support of local heritage and tourism interests, the Office of Public Works is committed to facilitating public access to the Round Tower at Kells. In preparation for the formal Consent process under the National Monuments Act that must precede it, OPW has undertaken preliminary work. The overall project will proceed as resources allow and having regard to other urgent priorities. However, it must be noted that there is a considerable amount of work to be undertaken and it is not possible as yet to say when it will be completed.
