890. Deputy Jack Chambers asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the status of the implementation of the European proposal COM 2017/276 relating to motor tax rates; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1148/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraEuropean Commission proposal COM (2017) 276 is a proposal for a Council Directive amending Directive 1999/62/EC on the charging of heavy goods vehicles for the use of certain infrastructures, as regards certain provisions on vehicle taxation. The proposal was adopted by the Commission on 31 May 2017. It is still under consideration by the Council and a Council Decision has not been adopted as yet.
