I reintroduced the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) in September 2017, after a number of years when no ring-fenced funding was available for the scheme. Since then, I have allocated over €48 million to Local Authorities under the scheme for improvement works on non-public roads.

The number and location of roads to benefit from improvement works under the LIS is a matter for the Local Authorities.

Since 2017, I have allocated a total of €2,875,498 to Kerry County Council for the completion of works on over 120 LIS roads. This includes a 2019 allocation of €669,930, which still remains to be drawn down.

I am monitoring expenditure on the LIS on an on-going basis and any future allocations will be considered as part of the annual Estimates process.
