Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Health his views on reports that seriously ill children are being put at risk by being transported abroad for treatment on extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation machines which are already available in Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Health if Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin has ECMO machines available which are not used to treat respiratory illnesses due to a lack of funding from the HSE; if so, the number of machines that are available in this case; and the estimated cost in having them operational.
