As the Deputy will be aware, matters of law and order are a matter for my colleague the Minister for Justice.

In comparative international terms, Ireland and Dublin are perceived as safe destinations and the warmth of the welcome remains a key strength in the Dublin visitor experience. Dublin remains a popular tourist destination and was recently named in the Top 10 cities to travel to in 2022 by The Lonely Planet.

Fáilte Ireland research shows that, of those consumers who would not consider taking a domestic city break (including Dublin), only a minority claim that concerns over safety and security are the main barrier for them. The research concludes that the distinct majority of visitors are positive about how cities, including Dublin, are presented and in the feeling of security they project. While I have not corresponded the Minister for Justice on these issues at this time,  Fáilte Ireland sits on the Dublin City Forum which comprises of An Garda Síochána, Dublin City Council, business and sectoral representative groups and which provides an opportunity to discuss issues of concern as they arise.
